Saffron Walden Market Market Square, Saffron Walden ★★★★★ 4.8 Tue & Sat 8am–4pm Free parking in Common car park (5-min walk)

Saffron Walden is posh Essex – think Frinton but inland – and the market reflects it. Tuesday and Saturday bring 10–15 clothing stalls with a heavy vintage and nearly-new vibe: charity rails from the big houses, local designers selling handmade dresses, cashmere jumpers for £20, and kids’ Smalls merino for a fiver. Lots of linen, Liberty print, and proper country-casual stuff.
The square itself is gorgeous – medieval buildings, independent shops, and the best coffee at The Adnams Store. Perfect for a slow morning browsing.
Pros
- Highest quality vintage/nearly-new in Essex
- Beautiful historic setting
- Friendly, chatty stallholders
- Great cafés and pubs around
Cons
- Smaller selection than big towns
- Prices reflect the area (still cheap, but not £5 bargains)
